Impress for Success
The Professional Atmosphere for an Accounting Firm's Office Space

Carr, Riggs & Ingram, LLC, Accountants, in Dunwoody, Georgia were moving into their current office space in 2004. Although the new space was already built out, it is more modern and more spacious than their previous office. “The furniture pieces we had were outdated, and we had no artwork at all,” says Bruce McFadden, CPA, Partner. “We needed a look that would impress our clients and create a professional atmosphere.”

Jeff Flowers worked with Carr, Riggs & Ingram to select the perfect pieces to create their ideal business environment of a traditional reception area and modern feel in the back area.

One particular challenge was the long hallway, with a wider section in the center. The length of the empty hallway played tricks on the eyes, and the wide section seemed awkward. Jeff Flowers used the hallway as a transition point from the traditional foyer to the contemporary back offices. He added curios (see photo, left) to occupy the wide space, and break up the extreme length, in a manner that is both beautiful and functional. The curios display books and personal objets d’art, giving hallway the feeling of a room.

Jeff also brought in select furniture pieces for some of the offices and lobby. He included unusual side tables and credenzas, and an oversized chair in the lobby that compliments the mass of a large column.

Artwork is also a key ingredient to Jeff’s designs. Ranging from traditional to modern—and carefully chosen to bring out the colors and textures of the other pieces and surrounding walls—the paintings, prints, and sculptures displayed throughout the office speak of taste and sophistication.

“Jeff always surprises and challenges us. He makes us think. We wouldn’t have bought a lot of this stuff ourselves,” says Bruce McFadden. “He also understands our budget and does extremely well at staying within it. Jeff has excellent sources to procure pieces like these, so we really don’t have to worry about costs. He provides a turnkey service for us. When he says, ‘You’ll like this,’ we trust his judgment.”

Today, the partners and staff of Carr, Riggs & Ingram frequently receive compliments about their offices. “The work speaks for itself,” says Bruce McFadden.
